CALCULATING NEW ROUTE...

Howdy everyone,

I realise this blog is called Arch. Comm but I would really prefer to start over. Because I have already provided my tutors with this address, I figured it would just be easier to link you from HERE to my ACTUALY ARCHITECTURAL COMMUNICATIONS BLOG!

Thanks for that,

Bianca

5 REAL TIME IMAGE CAPTURES OF THE DEVELOPED UT2004 ENVIRONMENT

Birds-eye view of the two offices (Steven Jobs below, Donatella Versace in/ hanging off the bridge) and the common meeting space, which is the white space to the left.

Image of Steven Job's office space. I experimented with the notion of open spaces which are nonetheless defined as rooms. I thought initially to seek inspiration from the black and white i-pods, however, in the end I decided to use bright red and orange textures which I thought embodied Job's personality as somewhat aggressive, endlessly energetic and innovative.

Image of the meeting space with the dining table inside. While the entrace builds drama the inside is fairly simple with calming lighing in order to be most conducive to calm and rational behaviour and negotiations.

Image of Donatella Versace's office space: using her well-known favourite colour purple. Initially I had a runway running though the inside of her office, but eventually opted for a more subtle use of the catwalk. In her office there is a secluded area for her privacy but also many vantage points from which she can view the models walking along the open-air catwalks.

An image with which I sought to demonstrate the harmony between different elements of the map and the tension between the two power-figures.

NOT ASSESSABLE

NOTE TO SHAOWEN
Hi Shaowen,

this image capture is not part of the image captures stipulated on the marking criteria- it is simply for my colleagues to see something to be able to fill out my evaluation sheet.

Cheers,

Bianca

MOVEMENT; scalar, rotational, linear, stealthy, rhythmic, erratic

Job's Elevator

With both elevators, I tried to expound the dynamic and the innovative; two characteristics which I believe are central to the success of Jobs and Versace. Hence, I used manipulated geometric forms. I also sought to explore the notion of balance which is central to the idea of power and especially to the idea of posessing it.

dining table

This dining table has a square table-top, so that (in theory), no matter where the "diners" are seated (given they are seated opposite each other), they will be the same distance from each other as on any other point on the table. I also wanted to stress the idea of EQUILIBRIUM, which is a characteristic that I believe Jobs' and Versace's power possesses.

I initially struggled with more complex, more detailed designs for a table but settled for the simplicity and streamlined understatedness of this design. The two asymmetrical legs represent equal yet different forms of strength, which support their possessers in different ways.

Unless completely necessary, I would like to keep the table texture free, because I feel that plain white would signify neutrality and calm- two states of mind one should be in when meeting with someone to possibly negotiatiate or discuss.
